Great Sexpectations

However, if you want to avoid taking potions or pills that you can't pronounce or worse yet can't be sure won't interact negatively with other medications or existing conditions or if you don’t have time to follow a particular diet, can regular food help you out? The truth remains, follow a good healthy diet (Canada’s Food Guide can help) and you are well on your way. For an extra boost, try incorporating more of these elements into your diet:
Garlic, while stinky, helps the circulation which helps the blood flow to all of the important areas down there.
Ginger does the same thing and is less smelly.
Zinc is critical to a healthy libido. It can be found in pumpkin seeds, red meat, poultry and oysters- which have been touted as an aphrodisiac since the beginning of time.
Vitamin E: some sources include asparagus, oils, nuts, green leafy vegetables.
Chocolate: small doses help release dopamine, one of the happy hormones. Sue McGarvie prescribes 4 ounces a day of dark chocolate.
Omega 3 fatty acids: oils in fish and nuts – in fact you get two for one with pumpkin seeds — high in zinc and Omega 3.
Like a little heat on your plate? Good for you and good for your sex drive. So pour on that chilli sauce. It keeps your nerves alive and kicking.
Soy: improves circulation
Bananas: full of vitamin b — good for sex drive. They are also full of potassium — good for hangovers in case the bubbly you drink together goes to your head!
Shelley Taylor, owner of Ottawa’s adult shop Venus Envy, says that while she doesn’t fully buy into the aphrodisiac qualities of food, “some food is just really sexy to eat together.” At Venus Envy, “people seem especially fond of the chocolate body paint made with real milk chocolate.”
The Durex poll also revealed some interesting statistics on sexual satisfaction: 82% of respondents worldwide who are sexually satisfied say they feel respected by their partner during sex; 39% want more love and romance; 36% want more quality time with their loved one, but only 29% wanted a higher sex drive. Compare that with 37% who want to feel less stressed out and tired and you get a picture of where we are at, psychologically speaking, when it comes to sex. So maybe a good massage from your partner mixed with a little bit of down time and a salad peppered with chocolate, nuts, oysters, spinach and chilli sauce and chocolate body paint for dessert is all you really need to get you in the mood. As for the rest, relax and enjoy the ride!
