Oh, the weather outside may be frightening, but inside Jean Pigott Place, City Hall on February 5th, the Caribbean awaits.
Year after year the Ottawa Art Gallery (much to the delight of many cold Ottawans) celebrates a country or region around the world for its annual Winterlude fiesta: On the Rocks. This year the OAG will be celebrating the sights, sounds, and lush flavors of the Caribbean.
Sample delicious island fare that will be prepped by Resa Solomon-St. Lewis and Chef Carleton, sip on some rum punch or non-alcoholic sorrel spritzer at the Rum Shop, enjoy the steel pan sounds of Mr. Eddie Alleyne, and the Afro-Latin-Caribbean beats by DJ Rayaz. Enjoy dance performances by The Cultural Arts Studio School of Afro-Caribbean Dance and shimmy up to the cash bar that will be serving Banks, Carib and Red Stripe beers.
The event will feature professional sound design by Dave O’Heare and lighting and atmosphere provided by Arts Court Theatre. You are welcome to join the post-party at 56 ByWard Market Square in the lower level. There is free entry after 10pm with your On the Rocks ticket.
Advanced tickets can be purchased here until Monday, February 1st for $20. Tickets at the door on the night of the event can be purchased for $25. Admission includes delectable food and drink samples, exciting games and live entertainment that will be sure to bring the heat!
