Don’t Miss WWE phenom Jake “The Snake” at Yuk Yuk’s

Fans of the World Wrestling Federation know Jake “The Snake” Roberts. The professional wrestler had an explosive career and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Roberts competed in the National Wrestling Alliance and was a champion in the Mexican-based Asistencia Asesoría y Administración in 1993, 1994, and again in 1997.

Known for inventing one of the greatest ending moves in the sport, the DDT — named after the highly toxic banned insecticide — Roberts’ head-hold and backward fall revolutionized the sport. It was later named the coolest manoeuvre ever by the WWE.

As a wrestler, Roberts had a big presence and was known for his dark persona and the use of mind games and psychology against his opponent during matches. He also rightly earned the nickname “The Snake” for using live pythons as part of his act in the ring — sometimes to his own detriment — Promo photos from the era show Roberts wrapped by his python and affectionately holding its head.

Roberts’ demons were covered in the documentary The Resurrection of Jake The Snake” Roberts, a very personal look at his efforts to get sober after dealing with addiction to alcohol and cocaine and a childhood of sexual abuse at the hands of his father and stepmother.

Following his semi-retirement from wrestling and induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, Roberts shifted gears. He remains a visible character in wrestling leagues, making cameo appearances, but he’s on a different path, focusing on storytelling as entertainment.

Roberts currently hosts The Snake Pit with Jake Roberts on YouTube and has entered the world of stand-up comedy. His YouTube stories are hilarious; the wrestler-turned-comedian definitely has a talent for making people laugh.

Jake “The Snake’s” comedy is as entertaining as watching him DDT Macho Man Randy.
