The level of excitement when WWE comes to town is always noticeable. It was about six months since their last visit to the National Capital, and even at the restaurant where our pre-wrestling dinner took place, multiple people were sporting t-shirts of their favourite wrestlers.
While this wasn’t a live TV event like WWE Raw or WWE Smackdown, Saturday’s Supershow still generated the largest attendance for a WWE Live event.
It feels like a broken record reporting on the crowd’s enthusiasm, but it was apparent. Last Saturday in Ottawa, fans were transported to a world of sports and entertainment by some of the top WWE Superstars.
The night kicked off with a six-man tag team match where Drew McIntyre teamed with the Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Imperium.
A Triple Threat match for the women’s title had Charlotte Flair and Asuka challenging Iyo Sky.
One of the great things about these events is that the performances aren’t limited by television time restraints. This gave superstars like Rhea Ripley, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins more time to engage with the fans, take pictures, and sign autographs, something you don’t usually see on televised shows.
Whether you are a long-time fan or it was your first time seeing WWE live, this was a very entertaining night. It’s wonderful to see Ottawa become a market that gets to host several events a year.
