The Terence Robert Gallery Hosts Two Fall Exhibitions Featuring Philip Craig and Su Sheedy
The Terence Robert Gallery features recent works from artists, including many Canadian painters, mixed media artists and sculptures, with monthly solo presentations. Recently the gallery featured well known local artist Philip Craig in an exhibition titled New Works – Twenty Ten. Early in his career Philip lived and worked in Newfoundland where his isolation from the art world allowed him to focus on traditional subject matter including landscapes, portraits, and still life. Later travels to England, France, Italy, Morocco, and India have enriched and inspired his works and gave him an appreciation for light. Collectors around the world now seek his paintings.
From November 12 to November 22 the gallery is featuring the work of Kingston, Ontario based artist Su Sheedy. Sheedy works with beeswax. As a material-based artist, she enjoys mixing encaustic with other media. Pressed tin, carded wood, corrugated steel, and birch bark are a few of the materials with which she is working. She enjoys exploring texture and the forms she creates are the result of pouring, routering, or scraping. The Terence Robert Gallery is located at 531 Sussex Drive.
