League Leading Atlético Ottawa is the Hottest Tickets in Town

Atlético Ottawa is the hottest sports ticket in town right now. How can they not be? The Canadian Premier League team has been in first place all season long.

In twelve league games, Atlético has only lost once; the team doesn’t quit. They are currently seven points ahead of second-place Vancouver FC. And while they may not boast the highest attendance of all sports teams in Ottawa, you would be hard-pressed to find a more entertaining product that keeps fans engaged.

I’ve been to TD Place to see many games and different teams, but when Atlético is on the pitch, the fans pay attention. They are not walking the concourse or focused on anything but the game — they are invested.

It is also rare to see fans leave early and why would they? Atlético takes advantage of every second of the game. This was proven on Friday evening when they broke the tie deadlock with a game-winner in the 93rd minute!

The 5,000-plus crowd in attendance was treated to an entertaining, high-scoring game. Atlético took the lead early, within the first two minutes, as Aboubacar Sissoki put the home team in front. A rare mistake by Luke Singh tied the game in the 48th minute. Seven minutes later, Forge FC was in the lead. Within fifteen minutes, Atlético was able to tie and then take the lead with goals from Amer Didic and Ruben del Campo. Another tactical mistake led to an equalizing goal by Forge FC.

Atlético did not go quietly into the night, as Liberman Torres scored the winner, sending TD Place into a frenzy. Ottawa has now defeated the defending champions twice this year.

In addition to being highly entertaining, the tickets are very affordable, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and the team’s performance has improved significantly since last season.
