Enrich your Life with Visual Arts at EBA’s Open Studio

Ottawa’s Enriched Bread Artists is opening its studio for the public to explore this October. If you enjoy visiting art exhibits, experiencing real creative spaces up close, and touring historic 1920s heritage buildings, then you are in luck; this open house boasts all three!

Enriched Bread Artists (EBA) is a non-profit collective of 21 Ottawa-based artists who engage with a wide range of mediums. EBA artists have exhibited locally, nationally, and even internationally. EBA has been enriching Ottawa’s contemporary art scene since 1992, and its open studio event has been an annual celebration of the visual arts for 32 years, ever since EBA first opened its doors.

On Thursday, October 17th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., a vernissage will commence EBA’s open studio. The evening will treat guests to a viewing of EBA’s curated art exhibits, promising a tantalizing taste of all EBA artists offer. You are invited to peruse EBA’s exhibit of paintings, prints, photos, sculptures, and multi-media creations.

Following the vernissage, EBA will be open to the public for two weekends: October 19-20th and 26-27th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. These weekends will pull back the curtain to reveal the personal studio spaces where the 21 EBA artists create their masterpieces, offering an up-close look at their workspace and interaction with the visual arts through presentations, activities, and discussions. There will be opportunities to visit with EBA artists and ask them questions about their artistic explorations and critical research.

Along with its well-documented dedication to the visual arts in Ottawa, Enriched Bread Artists is also known for the heritage building for which it is named. EBA runs from inside a former bread factory. The historic industrial building, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, was declared a heritage site in 2020 and will be open for touring during the open studio.
