Ritual Music to Cure a Lover at the GCTC

(FROM GCTC) Ritual Music to Cure a Lover is the story of forbidden love, a family divided by long-held secrets, and a community trying to find balance between traditional ways and the modern world. The play culminates in a Zaar/Exorcism ceremony, intended to rid a young man of the “sickness” of his love for an outcast woman, that ultimately reveals a father’s long-buried secrets.bThe show immerses audiences in the heat and passion of an isolated fishing village on the shores of the Persian Gulf, where rituals, music, and family relations shape people's lives from birth to death. A modern-day love story rooted in ancient Iranian myths, it is a transformative storytelling experience.


Little Bones tribute to The Tragically Hip

Montreal native Scott Faulconbridge is headlining at Ottawa's Yuk Yuks this weekend. Faulconbridge has delighted International audiences with his masterful timing, quirky storytelling, and quick improvisational wit to establish himself as one of Canada's headlining acts. His work has earned him three Canadian Comedy Award nominations!


All My Puny Sorrows

Based on Miriam Toews’ beloved novel, All My Puny Sorrows premiered at TIFF 2021 and features Canadian actresses Alison Pill and Sarah Gadon. Directed by Michael McGowan, the film focuses on the relationship of sisters Yoli (Pill) and Elf (Gadon). Yoli is a struggling writer dealing with a divorce, while sister Elf is an accomplished concert pianist struggling with suicidal impulses. 


Black Business Expo

In its ongoing effort to promote Korean culture, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) is screening the film Three Sisters, about seemingly ordinary sisters who are forced to confront shared childhood scars on their father’s birthday. The film is an emotional rollercoaster that portrays contemporary Korean society through the sisters: oldest sister Hee-Sook (Kim Sun-Young), middle sister Mi-Yeon (Moon So-Ri), and youngest sister Mi-Ok (Jang Yoon-Ju).
