A Night to Remember: ‘Get Sidified’ Event Raises Thousands for Crohn’s and Colitis

Ottawa’s “King of Scent,” Sid Cratzbarg, famed for his signature glasses and extraordinary selection of perfumes and colognes, held his first post-COVID Get Sidified fundraiser for Crohn’s and Colitis on October 18th at the chic Sala San Marco. This fashion impresario’s life took a dramatic turn sixteen years ago after a near-fatal bout with colitis, which led to months in the hospital before achieving stability. Since then, Cratzbarg has dedicated himself to raising substantial funds for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

This year, his Get Sidified team which includes the lovely and talented Darpan Ahluwalia transformed Sala San Marco into a vibrant venue for an evening of fashion, fun, and fundraising. The space exuded style and sophistication, providing the perfect backdrop for the evening’s runway glamour. Guests mingled over cocktails and tapas while admiring dozens of items up for grabs at the silent auction; all donated to support the cause.

The show’s highlight was undoubtedly the fashion runway, where a mix of professional models and enthusiastic local personalities struck poses to the crowd’s delight. Local designers contributed their creations, transforming the fashion show into a celebration of creativity, compassion, and community spirit. Renowned fashion photographer Richard Tardif was on hand to document the exciting event. The energy and style of the models were infectious, lighting up the room with flair. Sid, always the charismatic host, narrated each look with style, weaving in heartfelt words about resilience and the journey faced by those living with Crohn’s and colitis. Needless to say, the audience erupted in applause, showing appreciation for the models and the cause behind the show.

Throughout the night, guests bid on silent auction items, from luxurious getaways to one-of-a-kind art pieces. Bidding was lively, with attendees eager to win coveted items while supporting an important cause. Every dollar raised goes directly toward research, education, and advocacy for people living with Crohn’s and colitis.

A second standout moment of the evening was a raffle for a two-night stay at The Metcalfe, a boutique hotel in the heart of the capital. Known for its blend of historic charm, modern luxury, and top-tier service, The Metcalfe also offered the winner a dining experience at Coquette Restaurant, renowned for its culinary artistry and a must in Ottawa’s vibrant food scene. The raffle had guests eagerly buying tickets, hoping for a taste of this unique getaway.

By the end of the night, Get Sidified had not only achieved its fundraising goals but also delivered an unforgettable evening filled with fashion, camaraderie, and the promise of a brighter future for those affected by Crohn’s and colitis.
