Feature Image Artist: Jerry Grey
Art lovers will be mixing and mingling with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) and Operation Come Home (OCH), as they bring back the ‘Big Art’ auction on Saturday, March 25th at The Glebe Community Centre.
BBBSO and OCH have partnered for the fundraising event to support vulnerable and at-risk youth in the Ottawa community. The funds raised will go towards matching youth in BBBSO mentoring programs and to support homeless youth in completing high school at OCH.
With over 35 art pieces up for grabs from local artists such as Jerry Grey, Tim Desclouds, Chris Griffin and Erin Roberston, the event allows local art collectors to enjoy the event all while giving back by supporting and growing BBBSO’s mentoring programs and OCH’s school, employment, and housing programs.
Guests can look forward to select chefs that will be arranging hors d'oeuvres paired with samples of wine and micro brews. While enjoying a decadent culinary experience, guests are invited to circulate the venue, viewing carefully selected pieces of art in various mediums.
Susan Ingram, Executive Director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa hopes the event will raise awareness of the positive impact that comes from BBBSO and OCH. “BBBSO creates and supports mentoring relationships for over a thousand youth every year in the community and in schools across Ottawa, providing a positive impact at school, at home and ultimately helping them to grow into vibrant members of the community.”
“OCH works daily to give our youth the educational opportunity to finish high school and move on to Post Secondary studies in our non-traditional high school in partnership with the Ottawa Catholic School Board” says Elspeth McKay, Executive Director at Operation Come Home.
Get ready to bid for a good cause! The live auction portion of the evening will be run by Ottawa lawyer, Mr. Lawrence Greenspon.
