Robert H. Orange, Vice-President, FMA and the Kanata Branch Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy successfully orchestrated his 18th Annual charity fundraising dinner and silent auction for Maison Libère-Elles to support the work the shelter does for women and children who have been victims of domestic violence, harassment, physical and psychological abuse.
The reception and dinner were hosted by Orange at the renowned Restaurant Les Fougères in Chelsea (shown in featured image).
This is also the 18th year the acclaimed restaurant — often described as the region’s best restaurant — has hosted the event. Les Fougeres isn’t just a meal, it’s more of an experience (hint: try the duck confiti).
The reception and dinner raised over 16,000 dollars. Since Rob Orange started the event in 2001, he has raised over $300,000 for the shelter. The sixty people who attended the April 4th event bid on a variety of silent auction items, including NAC concert tickets, massage therapy sessions, weekend getaway and Sens tickets. A very popular item was a classic soft-grained pebbled leather “holds absolutely everything” Urban ooobaby leather bag made in Italy by London, Ontario fashion designer Tulin Sallabank. Needless to say, it went for more than its asking price and all for a great cause.
Ottawa Life Magazine would like to send a hearty message of congratulations to Robert Orange, Sarah Bowen and the team at CIBC Wood Gundy that put together such an impressive event. And, of course, a big shout out again to Maison Libère-Elles, who do such important work. Bravo!
