It’s a new year, time for a new YMCA. Yesterday the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA Board of Directors announced that they’re appointing Bob Gallagher as the region’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. Bob assumes responsibility February 16, and succeeds Deirdre Speers who has stepped down to pursue other opportunities.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region at this important stage in its journey,” Gallagher says in a press release. “I look forward to working with the Y team to continue to build capacity and ensure community impact and sustainability into the future.”
Todd Cain, the Board of Directors’ Chair, seems as happy as Gallagher about the new appointment.
“Bob brings a strong focus on partnerships and has demonstrated community building skills by leading the YMCA of Central East Ontario to some of the best operating results across the YMCA network in Canada,” said Cain.
Bob Gallagher is a career YMCA-YWCA professional and brings with him more than 36 years experience with the organization.
