Yuk Yuk’s, a comedy club located in Ottawa, is hosting their annual Mike MacDonald Comedy Competition from July 2 – August 28 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The winner will be crowned as ‘Technically Funny’ and will win the grand prize of $1000 dollars! The competition is open to both professional and amateur comedians. The Mike MacDonald Comedy Competition unites comedians from around the world in tribute to the Canadian actor and comedian, Michael Allan MacDonald, a legendary fixture in Canadian comedy best known for his performances on stage as well as for appearing in Three Fugitives, Just For Laughs, Mr. Nice Guy and more!
Mike MacDonald passed away due to health complications at the age of 58. Five years prior to his death, MacDonald was a recipient of a liver transplant which gave him more time to live. He was a passionate advocate for Be A Donor. Therefore, to honor Mike MacDonald, those affected by Be A Donor and The Gift of Life, both organ and tissue donor companies, are scheduled as judges for the comedy competition.
