Centrepointe Theatres announces second Gruffalo performance
“A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood…” This may be one of the most well-known opening lines of any children’s book. Of course, it’s from The Gruffalo. The little brown mouse and the Gruffalo, along with other woodland friends, will be making an appearance at Centrepointe Theatres on February 2, 2018 at 3 p.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The Tall Stories production coming from London, England has proven to be a hit with Ottawa audiences calling for a morning performance.
“It’s heartwarming to see that Julia Donaldson’s story illustrated by Axel Scheffler resonates so deeply with Ottawa audiences over 15 years later, to the point where we’ve had to add an additional performance two months prior in order to meet demand,” says Allan Samson, Artistic Producer and Manager. “We’re delighted to welcome back Tall Stories’ production of the theatre adaptation of this beloved tale.”
Charlotte Lund, Tall Stories General Manager, is also excited for the company’s return. “We’re thrilled that audiences are so keen to come and see The Gruffalo when we return to Centerpointe Theatres in February. It’s such a fun show for all the family and we can’t wait to explore the deep, dark woods of Ottawa!”
She continues: “Audiences can expect to hear all of the lines from the classic story of The Gruffalo alongside catchy original songs, comedy and our unique style of physical storytelling.”
Tall Stories have previously brought other Julia Macdonald books to Centrepointe including a witch and her cat travelling in Room on the Broom, and the story of a tiny snail travelling he world on the tail of a humpback whale in The Snail and the Whale. Both much loved by young audiences in the city.
February 2018, Tall Stories presents a magical musical tale will take audiences in an adventure through the woods as mouse meets fox, owl, snake and eventually the Gruffalo. But there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo… or is there?
