Don’t tell your doctor, your dietician, or your health conscious best friend, but the Sparks Street Poutine Fest is coming to town again.

Originating in Quebec in the late 1950’s, poutine has become more and more popular as the decades have passed. In case you have never heard of, or tried, this delicious, artery-clogging food, poutine is a wonderful mess (which the word “poutine” means) of french fries topped with cheese curds, and swimming in a heavenly tasting brown sauce.

Starting Thursday, April 25, and running through to Sunday, April 28, this year’s Poutine Fest will be open from 11am to 9pm on Thursday to Saturday, and from 11am to 7pm on Sunday, which gives everyone lots of time to get out and enjoy a bit of what has become known as a truly Canadian dish.

From Elgin Street to Bank Street, vendors will be lined up to sell you as much ooey, gooey, cheesy, heart-clogging goodness you can eat.

Gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options will be available, but check with each poutinerie individually before buying.

To keep you entertained while you eat, there will be live music, and street performers on hand.

From traditional to exotic versions of poutine, the Sparks Street Poutine Fest is an event worth checking out – put on your stretchy pants, and get ready to treat yourself!
