Contemporary Dance Company Tara Luz Danse Inspires Creativity Through Movement
Tara Luz Danse is a dance company that offers community workshops, performances, and local iniatives for young and old to discover contemporary dance. The company is active in Ottawa schools but on April 6th, everyone will have the opportunity to be inspired by the group at the Shenkman Arts Centre.
Choreographer Anik Bouvrette says that although contemporary dance is not well known in the community, dance itself is closer to us than we realize because, as she puts it, “We are all bodies in movement.” Through music, dance, and theatre, her latest dance, Les bâtons, unlocks the artistic possibilities of a simple cylindrical musical instrument, the boom-wacker.
Autism Ontario commissioned the group to perform a special show for families with children on the Autism Spectrum. The April 6th matinée of Les bâtons at the Shenkman Arts Centre will be followed by an evening performance open to the general public.
Tickets for the Saturday, April 6th evening show are available at: https://shenkmanarts.ca/en/tara-luz-danse-les-batons
