This weekend the Digi60 Film Festival returns for its 17th year. Digi60 is thee film festival in Ottawa if you are an emerging filmmaker. For close to two decades it has been providing a platform for filmmakers to develop their talents and have multiple resources at their disposal.
As someone who has attended Digi60 many times, I have seen dreams realized when directors, actors, etc win awards and I have seen new talent discovered in multiple times. If there is one thing that is consistent, year after year, it is this, Ottawa has an abundance of talent. Whether they are in front of or behind the camera, we are a city that has a lot of filmmaker that consistently impress.
Whether its first time filmmakers or alumni to the festival, this weekend serves as a reminder for the great storytelling and projects that Digi60 consistently presents.
In our Covid-19 world, this year's festival is a virtual one. You will have the opportunity to see the films from the comfort of your home.
Recently, I interviewed both the festival's Executive Director, Emily Ramsay and the Director of Womxn’s Industry, Maissa Houri.
The festival runs from December 11 through the 13th.
The community shorts program will air December 11 at 8 p.m.
The 60-day shorts are divided into two blocks. Block A will air on December 12 at 6 p.m. Block B will be on December 12 at 8 p.m.
