From drumming to K-Pop to cooking, KCC has classes for everyone!

Everyone is familiar with the K-Pop craze that has taken the world by storm, and then there are the award-winning films from Korea. But now, Ottawans of all ages have an opportunity to experience Korean culture firsthand.

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is launching a new semester of K-Academy programming that will run from March to June and consist of both online and in-person classes.

The courses are available to anyone interested and include Nanta (Korean Traditional Drum), Samgomu & Traditional Dance, Haegeum, K-Pop Dance, Hansik (Korean Food Cooking), and Korean Traditional Dance Class.

Nanta (Korean Traditional Drum)

For the very first time, Nanta (Korean Traditional Drum) class is being offered, inviting students interested in learning Korean rhythms and beats with the unique sound of Korean traditional drums. Weekly in-person classes will take place at the KCC.

Samgomu & Korean Traditional Dance Class

Students with previous experience are invited to master movements incorporated with Samgomu. Samgomu is a traditional drum dance representing the spirit of Korean dance with its sophisticated and synchronized movements. Weekly in-person classes will take place at the KCC.

Haegeum

Haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument resembling an upright fiddle. Both beginner and intermediate level classes will be offered in-person and instrument rental will be available. Weekly in-person classes will take place at the KCC.

K-Pop dance class will be offered online via ZOOM in two levels, beginner and intermediate, allowing participants of all ages and locations to join.

Korean Traditional Online Dance

Korean Traditional Online Dance Class will invite everyone to learn the basic steps, breathing, and movements with simple choreography. This semester, we will offer online classes on the first Wednesday each month, open to everyone via ZOOM.

Hansik

Hansik or Korean Food Cooking Class will be continued to be offered online. Information on the upcoming class will be released soon.
