Get Back to Nature With a Hammond Hill Eco-Experience

The first and only time I ever camped in a tent was on a trip out east. We stopped in Edmundston, New Brunswick and slept under the stars. It was a fun experience and something I crossed off my bucket list.

Many appreciate getting away from the hustle and bustle and being at one with nature, whether camping, glamping, or anything in between. Occasionally, I love disconnecting from technology and being more present, and getting back to nature is the perfect way to do just that.

The reality is, not everyone has a cottage or family and friends with a trailer. The good news is that the wonderful people of Hammond Hill have you covered.

This is the first eco-experience and wilderness retreat of its kind in Canada. Approximately 20 minutes east of Ottawa, Hammond Hill is situated on 62 acres of woodland.

Multiple types of accommodations are offered, from cabins to yurts and jupes. One of the great things about this property is that you can decide if you want a more luxury stay or prefer to ‘rough it.’

There are also many great activities, such as hiking, swimming and yoga. And since this is a year-round establishment, skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding are also on the menu.

We recently had the chance to talk with co-owner Aaron Markel. Not only is he incredibly passionate about the business, he constantly speaks in ‘we,’ a tribute to the very strong team environment at Hammond Hill.

We have all heard the appeals to support local; I think this Ottawa-area business deserves your attention. As the cost of travel is increasing, Hammond Hill offers a great affordable getaway option.

Check out my interview with Aaron and consider booking some time at this wonderful establishment.
