Grand opening of DC Canada Education Publishing!
The Canadian publisher of children’s books, games, and music announces the grand opening of its retail location in Ottawa this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m.!
An independent publishing company that has had great success with books for ESL (English as a second language) in markets like China, DC Canada Education Publishing hopes to carve a place in the educational publishing market in Ottawa with the opening of its first brick and mortar location.
DC Canada has made significant inroads in the publishing business with their well-received series, The Charter for Children. The series teaches children about the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in a fun and engaging manner. Each short story is set in a different province and uses creative illustrations to explain the morals of one of the charter’s rights.
Young children learn the values that make Canada a free country while getting to know their rights and responsibilities as citizens. The series includes titles like “The Greyest Tail on the Yukon Trail,” a story that covers the right to equal treatment and freedom from discrimination based on race guaranteed under section 15(1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is a wonderful story about a wolf who can’t lead his dogsledding team in a big race because he has grey hair. The series includes 13 more stories available in both French and English.
The DC Educational’s catalog also contains some great board games for kids to help them expand their minds and teach them skills like critical thinking, interpersonal, and personal skills. Their award-winning game, The Smart Bear Brain Fitness Kit, is a board game kids can play together that teaches spatial logic.
DC also publishes excellent books for learning how to read, including their one-story-a-day series for beginners and intermediate readers. They also have a one-story-a-day series on science. Each one of these collections contains 365 stories!
There are also great poetry books for kids, including “Our farm in the city” and “Recess in the Dark,” a poetry collection about kids who live in the Canadian North and sometimes have to go to school when there’s no sunlight.
In addition to all the great stories, DC has created an intelligent way to get kids into problem-solving and math with their “Into Math with Imagination” series. This three-book series offers an entirely different approach to learning from the standard exercise book and will help kids understand math easily.
Don’t miss the grand opening of DC Canada Education Publishing on Saturday, April 30th. There will be big discounts, activities, refreshments and a chance to meet some of the authors.
DC Canada Education Publishing is located at 28 Concourse Gate in Nepean.
