Winter blues? How about "Blue's Christmas" instead?
Christmas is just around the corner, and there’s no such thing as getting into the holiday spirit too early. Get into the Christmas spirit this season with Putumayo’s new album, Blues Christmas! “Christmas is generally considered a season of delight, good tidings and cheer. Paradoxically, Christmas is also a time for nostalgia and deep thoughts. It also explains why blues music, with its ability to capture feelings of unbridled joy and heart-wrenching sorrow, often in the same song, turns out to be the perfect soundtrack for the holidays”.
This album features all sorts of talented blues musicians. Texas-born blues singer and pianist Charles Brown reminds listeners to enjoy the special season with “Christmas Comes But Once A Year”. Kenny Neal joins in on the fun with “I’ll be Home for Christmas” through his harmonica tones. Keyboardist Chuck Leavell has played with rock legends such as The Allman Brothers and George Harrison, and in this album he teams up with singer Lisa Fischer for a beautiful classic rendition of “Please Come Home for Christmas”. Earl King and his potent electric guitar riffs on “Santa, Don’t Let Me Down” will spice up your holidays. These artists and so many others are featured in this album.
Music is the best way to celebrate the holidays, so why not the blues? Putumayo promises that “there’s no better way to bring some comforting heat to a dark winter’s night than a fiery set of down-home blues music”. The album will be released on November 29, 2019.
