KCC Ottawa Continues to Share Korean Arts and Culture

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) has opened registration for its Spring 2025 Cultural Classes, offering a diverse range of in-person and online programs celebrating Korean arts and culture. Running from March to May, the session includes courses in traditional Korean music, Taekwondo, visual arts, dance, and K-pop performance, among others. Designed for all skill levels, these classes are open to the public.

Seven in-person courses will be held at the KCC on Elgin Street, including Modern Minhwa and Hanji Craft, which introduce participants to traditional Korean painting and paper crafts. Those interested in Korean music can explore Danso and Haegeum, focusing on wind and string instruments. Additionally, K-pop dance and vocal courses will be available at both beginner and intermediate levels.

Classes are offered both in person and online, with a wide selection of free courses. While there is no cost to register for most courses, the KCC asks that participants commit to attending all sessions before signing up. A confirmation email with class details will be sent to all registered participants on March 5.

Reimagining the Everyday Through Art

Beyond its classes and workshops, the KCC’s onsite gallery is currently showcasing What We Saw, What You See an exhibition featuring the works of CHOI Byungcheol, HONG Younghun, and JEONG Minwoo from Studio Ordinary. Running until March 28, this exhibit offers visitors a fresh perspective on everyday life through the lens of artists on the spectrum.

A highlight of the exhibition is a video collaboration between Korean visual artists and Propeller Dance, Canada’s renowned inclusive dance company. Filmed in December 2024, the piece captures the creative synergy between Korean and Canadian disabled artists.

The KCC gallery is located at #101, 150 Elgin Street and is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.).
