Working as a pediatric intensivist, Dr. Greg Stidham interacted with many people over his 32-year career. One thing he’s thought a lot about as a result is chance encounters and how, even though we may not notice it at the time, they can be life-changing in their scale and importance.
Dr. Stidham’s third book Dear Friends, reflects on chance encounters and short, or sometimes long-lived, relationships. It features ten touching stories of different people in difficult, heartwarming, and melancholic situations.
Some of the book’s stand-out stories include a tale of an orphaned boy who relocates to a small Colorado mountain town where he begins taking care of a man with terminal cancer; a young intellectually disabled man who volunteers for the Salvation Army as a donation collector at Christmas; and the story of a middle-aged man who takes a long bus trip where he meets a young woman facing her own challenges.
Dear Friends will tug at your heart with its well-written stories and is available globally in hardcover, paperback, and ebook format.
