Ottawa-based interior home decorator, Saree Parry, wins 1st place at international contest for luxury room design

Sophisticated. Multifunctional. Upscale. These are just a few of the ways in which people have described spaces designed by Saree Parry. Now, you can add international award-winning to that list too! This past May, Saree Parry of Saree Parry Design based in Ottawa, was presented with the 1st place award for her dramatic room makeover of a foyer completed right here in Ottawa.

Decorating Den Interiors announced the winners of the 2019 International Dream Room Awards for outstanding design work on May 20, 2019 in Las Vegas. Designers from all over North America filled the ballroom in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel to celebrate the year’s top designers at the company’s 50th anniversary celebration and 35th annual Dream Room Competition.

Over 350 designers submitted design projects for consideration, and 3 winners were selected ranking in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placement in each category. Decorating Den Interiors’ room makeovers have been featured in such publications as Traditional Home, Elle Décor, Better Homes and Gardens, Veranda, Home Accents Today and others.

The judging panel was made up of journalists from across the U.S. and Canada who cover interiors for such publications as Traditional Home, Home Beautiful, Design NY, and Arabella Magazine.

The award-winning transformation took place over a 3-month period at a custom-built home on a sprawling Cumberland lot surrounded by lush landscaping including expansive lawns, scenic gardens, and mature trees near the Ottawa River. Despite the gorgeous greenery and south-facing windows, the interiors seemed dark and somber before Parry was brought in.

While attending a Design Workshop, presented by Parry, the Cumberland homeowners realized they needed help. They stayed afterwards to talk with Parry, invited her to their home, and soon engaged her services. Parry delivered a stunning design that brings light and warmth to the large space turning the formerly dark, cluttered dwelling into an inviting, elegant country manor, complete with a bright, welcoming foyer.

“She brought brightness in our home as she helped us redo our large entrance, living room, dining area and guest bathroom,” the homeowners said. “It is like a new house with a totally different and fresh look. Anyone looking to give a great facelift to their home would benefit from her expertise.”
