The Ottawa Independent Living Resource Centre – or OILRC for short – is a non-profit charitable organization that has been assisting in the empowerment of all persons with a disability in the Ottawa area for over 15 years. The OILRC is one of 27 Independent Living Resource Centres in Canada providing persons with disabilities important tools to enrich their lives and help them participate fully in the community.
The OILRC provides Peer Support Programs for those with disabilities at little to no cost to them. Many people living with disabilities are at high risk for isolation and our programs provide members with an opportunity to connect with other people and make new friends through a variety of activities. They currently offer Music, Yoga, Creative Expressions (art program), healthy cooking classes, life skills workshops and more.
The OILRC wishes to strengthen and expand their programming while remaining accessible for participants with little to no cost. In order to do this, they are putting together a fantastic fundraiser that will take place next month. All proceeds raised will be invested in the OILRC’s programs and services, which include one-on-one facilitation, and skill-building workshops like confidence, self-esteem, physical fitness, cooking, and overall healthy living.
An Evening of Laughter will also feature a fantastic line up of Yuk Yuk's comedians, must-have raffle prizes, a 50/50 draw, and much more!
