SodaStream has teamed up with Earth Day Network and Scarlett Johansson to launch a special campaign that is beneficial in conserving our environment. It hopes to raise awareness for the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is a collection of waste floating in the ocean that is twice the size of Texas – an incomprehensible size that puts into perspective just how much we really do throw away. Given its immense mass, SodaStream has dubbed this area ‘The Secret Continent’ and launched a campaign under the same title. People are encouraged everywhere to join this bottle-free movement.Who doesn’t love being let in on a secret?
SodaStream is seeking to have The Secret Continent noticed as the world’s eighth continent by the international community. To make this a reality, SodaStream is challenging everyone to sign an online petition (http://chn.ge/1hXUGql) this will directly be sent to global leaders, impacting them to publicly acknowledge The Secret Continent and take action in changing the way plastic is used and discarded.
“I am honored to be a part of a project that is powered by such noble intentions and goals,” Says Scarlett Johansson who is SodaStream’s Global Brand Ambassador and has already signed the petition herself. “The Secret Continent inspires people to change the way they live. Products like SodaStream aid in the reduction of our carbon footprint, a feat that is vital to preserving the planet for our children.”
