The Culinary Competition Will Be Fierce at Ottawa’s Food Fusion

Things in the kitchen are heating up and it’s all in the name of charity. On March 30 four local businesses are forming teams and putting their cooking skills to the ultimate test. The culinary competition is part of the first annual Food Fusion in support of The United Way Ottawa.

In the days leading up to Food Fusion, the four teams will learn to cook a featured dish under the expert guidance provided by one of six ‘celebrity’ chefs. The local chefs are volunteering their time and expertise, and participants include well-known names such as Joe Thottungal from The Coconut Lagoon, Jesse Bell from The Albion Rooms and Kyle Fewtrell of Tulips and Maple. The competing teams will have to recreate the dish for event attendees, who will get to vote on the meals. The dishes will be judged on the following categories: taste and texture, presentation, as well as technical and teamwork.

The event will be hosted at Ottawa’s Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute and Signatures Restaurant. Attendees will get to taste and judge all of the competing team’s dishes, as well as enjoy a complimentary drink and a delicious selection of canapés.

Tickets cost $45 and all of the event proceeds will go to United Way Ottawa towards strengthening counseling and support programs for those dealing with mental health and addictions challenges in Ottawa.
