2. 12 Monkeys (1995)
In this Terry Gilliam-directed sci-fi thriller, Bruce Willis stars as a convict who is sent back in time to stop a deadly virus that will eventually decimate the human race. Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt also star.
3. Groundhog Day (1993)
In this comedy classic, Bill Murray stars as a cynical TV weatherman who finds himself stuck in a time loop, reliving the same day over and over again. And as he tries to figure out a way to break the cycle, he also learns some valuable lessons about life.
4. The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
Based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger, this romantic drama stars Eric Bana as Henry DeTamble, a dashing librarian who has a rare genetic disorder that causes him to involuntarily travel through time. Rachel McAdams stars as Clare Abshire, the love of his life who is determined to find him no matter when or where he goes.
5. Doctor Who (2005-present)
This long-running British TV series follows the adventures of the titular Time Lord and his companions as they travel through space and time, battling evil and righting wrongs. The series has undergone several changes over the years, but it remains as popular as ever.
6. Time After Time (1979)
This classic sci-fi film stars Malcolm McDowell as H.G. Wells, who uses his time machine to chase Jack the Ripper (David Warner) through time to modern-day New York City. But when he arrives in the present, he discovers that the world is a far different place than he expected.
7. Primer (2004)
This low-budget indie sci-fi film follows two inventors (Shane Carruth and David Sullivan) who accidentally create a time machine and must deal with the ramifications of their actions. The film is complex and mind-bending, and it's definitely not for everyone. But if you're a fan of time travel stories, it's well worth seeking out.
8. About Time (2013)
In this heartwarming romantic comedy, Domhnall Gleeson stars as Tim Lake, a young man who discovers that the men in his family have the ability to travel through time. He uses his new power to try and improve his love life, with often hilarious results. Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, and Lindsay Duncan also star.
9. Project Almanac (2015)
This found footage sci-fi thriller follows a group of high school students who build a time machine and use it to fix various problems in their lives. But as they start to change the past, they begin to realize that there are dangerous consequences to their actions.
10. The Butterfly Effect (2004)
This psychological thriller stars Ashton Kutcher as a young man who discovers that he has the ability to travel back in time and change events in his own life. But as he soon discovers, even small changes can have disastrous results. Amy Smart, Melora Walters, and Elden Henson also star.
