This fall, Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is relaunching ‘ROM After Dark (RAD).’
RAD is the museum’s featured program aimed at adults, but due to COVID-19, the program was temporarily halted. As COVID restrictions are lifted, the ROM resumes its RAD program on Friday, September 16, 2022.
Headlining the return of RAD is K-Culture. It comes after the signing of a five-year, $1 million grant from the Korean government to support a Curator of Korean Arts & Culture and funds for new research and public programming.
Anyone interested in K-Pop or K-Culture won't want to miss this unique event in TO. RAD: K-Culture will feature performances by the band K-Pop boy band P1Harmony, helmed by Toronto’s own Korean-Canadian singer ‘Keeho.’ Since debuting in 2020, the band has released six albums, including the most recent Harmony: Zero In. The title song Doom Du Doom has over ten million views on YouTube.
While driven by K-Pop’s signature musical hooks, this edition of RAD will also showcase a variety of Korean arts and culture: animation, calligraphy, fashion, music, and dance.
Visitors can show off their K-Pop dance moves with Toronto’s RPM Dance Crew, take a shot at Korean Karaoke stardom, or get dancing with DJ Yuka K and DJ Korea Town Acid. Sample Korean animation shorts with Manimals by Oh Jihyeon, Apartment by Lee Jui, and Shining Night by Yang Hyeonseo.
For a more relaxed vibe, enjoy Korean tea tasting with certified tea sommelier Soo Park of Soocha Tea, groove to Korean Contemporary Jazz, or lose yourself in the instrumental meditation sounds from Korean Traditional Music Association in Canada musicians. Visitors can also don traditional attire in the Hanbok selfie station, a traditional dress that remains an integral part of Korean culture and is worn on special occasions.

Fans of K-Pop who cannot attend RAD: K-Culture have another opportunity to see P1Harmony in person. The Korean Cultural Centre Canada on Elgin Street in Ottawa is hosting a Fan Sign Event with P1Harmony in partnership with Seoul Shinmun Daily and FNC Entertainment on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 7 pm.
